THE ACADEMIC PROGRAMME OF THE INSTITUTION MAINLY CONSISTS OF SECTIONS ‘A & B’ EXAMINATIONS, POPULARLY KNOWN AS THE AMIIE EXAMINATION.

The IIE is a multi-disciplinary body responsible for qualifying engineers and setting standards for training and admission of engineers. Admission is normally into one of the 61+ Disciplines. Each Discipline has its Discipline Advisory Panel.

AMIIE in Electronics & Telecomm Engineering

About

Electrical engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacturing of electrical equipment like motors, radar systems, communication devices, and power generation systems. They also work on electrical systems for automobiles and aircraft.

Electronics engineers design and develop electronic devices, such as communication systems, portable music players, and GPS systems. Many electronics engineers also specialize in computer hardware.

Career

Electrical engineers typically perform a variety of tasks including designing new methods to use electrical power for product development or improvements. They carry out detailed calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards, ensuring that everything complies with specifications and safety codes. Their role also involves directing the manufacturing, installation, and testing processes for electrical equipment, guaranteeing that products meet the required standards and codes.

In addition to these duties, electrical engineers often investigate customer complaints or issues from the public, evaluate problems, and propose suitable solutions. They also collaborate with project managers to oversee production efforts, making sure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the expected quality standards. Electrical engineers play a critical role in the development of both everyday consumer products and more complex systems, requiring a combination of technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills to meet both safety and functionality requirements. Their work spans industries such as energy, telecommunications, and transportation, as well as any sector that requires electrical or electronic systems.

Job Prospects

  1. Job growth is expected in engineering services firms as companies contract engineering services.

  2. Demand will rise for electrical engineers in emerging technologies like solar arrays, semiconductors, and communications systems.

  3. Research and development roles will grow with technological innovation.

  4. Manufacturing sector growth is expected to be slow.

Remuneration

An Electrical Engineer typically earns an average salary of Rs 347,459 per year. As experience increases, salaries can rise, particularly with specialized skills in Visual Basic (VB) and Engineering Design. Engineers often transition to higher positions after 10 years in the field. Job roles may include project management or consultancy in senior roles. The demand for experienced engineers remains strong in various industries.
