About
Building Technology allows students to explore key topics shaping the future of the built environment and natural resources. The program integrates design and technology to create sustainable buildings. Strategies include architectural design, material flow analysis, life cycle assessment, energy modeling, human comfort analysis, and control engineering. These approaches promote environmentally responsible and efficient building solutions for a better future.
Career
Graduates of the Building Construction program have diverse career opportunities in the construction industry. They may start their own businesses or seek employment in various fields, including rough and finish carpentry, new construction, remodeling, cabinetmaking, estimating, and building maintenance. Those with expertise in carpentry can specialize in framing, roofing, or interior finishes, while cabinetmakers can work in custom furniture design, kitchen installations, and woodworking shops. Building maintenance professionals can find roles in facility management, ensuring the upkeep and functionality of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
On the other hand, graduates of the Construction Management program may pursue entry-level management and supervisory positions in residential and commercial construction. They can work as site supervisors, project coordinators, or estimators, overseeing budgets, scheduling, and quality control. Opportunities also exist in subcontractor coordination, contract administration, and safety management.
With experience, professionals in both fields can advance to higher positions such as project managers, general contractors, or construction executives. Additionally, they may find opportunities in real estate development, infrastructure projects, and green building initiatives, contributing to sustainable and efficient construction practices.
Job Prospects
Graduates can work in construction, carpentry, remodeling, cabinetmaking, and building maintenance. Opportunities exist in project management, cost estimation, and site supervision. With experience, professionals can advance to leadership roles in construction and real estate development.
Remuneration
Salaries in the construction industry vary based on experience, location, and specialization. Entry-level roles in carpentry and construction management offer competitive pay, while experienced professionals in project management and real estate development can earn higher salaries with additional benefits and incentives.
